A man from Stoke-on-Trent has been found guilty of rape, assault and strangulation following a trial.
Richard Allmark, of Smallthorne, inflicted a campaign of abuse on the survivor between May and December last year, assaulting her on numerous occasions by dragging her by her hair and strangling her.
At a trial that ended on Monday (14th July) at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, 21-year-old Allmark was found guilty by the jury of two counts of rape, one count of intentional strangulation and one count of assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm. He also pleaded guilty to another count of assault by beating at an earlier hearing.
He is now in custody awaiting his sentencing on 12th September this year.
DC Alicia Tierney, from our public protection unit, said:
“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to build all of the evidence needed to ensure Allmark answers to his crimes and faces justice for what he did.
“This result was achieved through the immense bravery of the survivor and the efforts of all the officers and staff that have worked incredibly hard to secure the conviction.”
