A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services found a man injured in Parliament Row, Hanley at around 11.20am yesterday morning (Saturday 12th October).

The victim remains in hospital. Staffordshire Police say his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Seyed Pouria, 23, from Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of a knife blade/pointed article in a public place, and attempted robbery.

Pouria remains in custody and is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday 14th October.

Chief Inspector Dave Barrow, force knife crime lead at Staffordshire Police, said:

“I would like to reassure the public that we are committed to tackling knife crime.

“Carrying a knife is never the answer and only increases the risk of harm to everyone involved. We will continue to work with partners and use every tool at our disposal to make our communities a safer place."
