A man has been charged following separate incidents of assault and arson in Stoke-on-Trent.

In October last year, police were called to Boundary Street in Hanley, after a man in his 60s was assaulted. He went to hospital with serious injuries, but has since been discharged.

When responding to four officers were also attacked.

In a separate incident in February this year, officers were called by the fire service, who were dealing with a fire inside a property on the same street. An officer was assaulted.

Brian Cureton, 50, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with grievous bodily harm, five counts of assaulting an emergency worker, arson and possession of cannabis.
