Man arrested for woman's protection
Police found a woman with multiple injuries, and a man with drugs in his possession
A man has been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences after police responded to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Lichfield.
Local officers were called to a property on the evening of Wednesday, April 9, accompanied by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Inside the home, they found a woman with injuries. Safeguarding measures were immediately put in place to ensure her protection.
A 29-year-old man from Rugeley was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, possession of cannabis, and possession of ketamine.
He was questioned in custody and later released on bail with conditions while investigations continue.
Chief Inspector Paul Finlayson, from the Lichfield local policing team, said:“ We’re continuing to target those committing high-harm offences in our communities as proactively as possible in Lichfield.
It’s absolutely vital that people continue to report their concerns to us. We’re determined to act robustly to support victims of crime and to act strongly against those responsible.”
