Man arrested on suspicion of rape after assault outside Stafford hotel

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape as police continue to investigate a recent incident in Stafford.

At about 8pm on Sunday (21 April), a woman was walking near to the Vine Hotel on Salters Street when she was seriously sexually assaulted.

Police say she is continuing to receive support from specialist officers at this time and as part of their investigation officers have arrested a 33-year-old man, from Stafford.

He has been questioned by detectives and has since been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.

Police say they are still keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or those with any information that can help us with our investigation.
