Man arrested in connection with fire at derelict Stoke-on-Trent building

He's being questioned on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life

A man has been arrested in connection with a fire that ripped through a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent.

Dozens of firefighters spent hours tackled the blaze on Paxton Street, Hanley, on Tuesday morning.

An investigation by the fire service has since determined that it was started deliberately.

A 41-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

He remains in police custody while inquiries continue.
