Man arrested after attempted abduction in Warrington
It's after a 19 year old woman was grabbed by a man who tried to drag her into some bushes
A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a woman in Warrington over the weekend.
The 19 year old woman was approached as she was walking along Winwick Road, at around 3:10am on Saturday.
The victim was grabbed but managed to escape unharmed before seeking help from a passing taxi driver.
Last night (July 30) at around 9:30pm police raided a home on Thelwell Lane, making one arrest.
The man remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Clare Coleman, of Cheshire Police, said:
“I understand the concern that this incident is likely to have caused and I hope that this arrest provides reassurance for the local community."
“I am aware that there have been a lot of rumours social media in relation to this incident and I would urge people not to speculate.
"The man we have arrested resides in the Warrington area and is not an asylum seeker as has been suggested online.”
