Fire crews are tackling a major blaze at an industrial estate near Macclesfield.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called to the Adlington Industrial Estate at 2:45am on Sunday.

At the height of the blaze, 12 fire engines and three special appliances from Cheshire, and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, were involved in putting the fire out.

The fire service say a commercial building and a number of lorries were involved in the incident, and that the fire was split into sectors to stop it spreading it further.

By 7:15am, just five pumps were involved in tackling the blaze, with engineers working to isolate the gas and electricity supply.

A large smoke plume has reduced significantly, but people living in the Poynton area are still being advised to keep doors and windows closed.
