M6 problems in Cheshire
Drivers are being warned of delays
National Highways is advising drivers to expect significant delays with two lanes remaining closed on the M6 northbound between junctions 18 and 19 due to an infrastructure defect discovered during planned overnight work.
A specialist engineer has carried out an inspection on land subsidence along the embankment, and repairs will be taking place. A large, temporary barrier is also being installed for the protection of HGVs while work is completed.
Highways bosses say significant delays are expected, and road users are advised to plan their journeys and if possible avoid the area at peak times.
The northbound entry slip road at junction 18 for Holmes Chapel also remains closed.
