A person has been found dead on the tracks at Longport train station.

The British Transport Police say they were called at around 11.10am this morning (16th January) to Longport station.

A person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Rail disruption was felt today in Crewe, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Macclesfield with many trains delayed or cancelled.

Certain services were replaced by buses between Stafford and Crewe.
