Investigation after woman sexually assaulted in Congleton
Police say it happened in the Canal Street/Canal Road area
An investigation has been launched after a woman was sexually assaulted in Congleton.
It's after police were called to the Canal Street / Canal Road area in the early hours on Saturday morning, where a 19-year-old woman had been attacked.
Officers say it happened at some time between 3.45am and around 4am.
Detective Inspector Stephen Hill said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and are working tirelessly to identify the suspect.
“We understand this may cause some concern in the community and we have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.
“Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV and video doorbell cameras to identify the suspect, and the victim is being supported by specialist officers."
