Two people in hospital after Hanley house fire
Emergency services were called to Hope Street late last night
Detectives are investigating a fire at a derelict property in Hanley.
Police and fire crews were called at 10.30pm last night (Thursday 5 August) to Hope Street following reports of a fire.
Two women were removed from the derelict property through a window by a male member of the public and both were treated by paramedics.
One woman, in her 30s, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital before being transferred to a specialist burns unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. She is in a critical but stable condition.
The second woman, who is in her 40s, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Officers closed the road and diverted traffic down a nearby one-way street instead.
Officers remain at the scene this morning (Friday 6 August) while inquiries are continuing.
Fire crews from across the county called in
Fire crews from Hanley, Newcastle and Sandyford attended and found a fire on the ground floor.
Crews used to breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which was out by 10.49pm.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service left the scene at midnight and investigators attended the property and surrounding area this morning.
