Arrest made as man fights for life after Hanley assault

A man was found unconscious on Trinity Street on Sunday

A man has been arrested over an assault in Hanley which saw a man sustain life-threatening injuries.

Police were called at 4.08am on Sunday (28 November) to Trinity Street, near to junction with Stafford Street, following reports of violence.

Officers attended along with West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A 28-year-old man was found unconscious at the scene.

He was conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.

The victim sustained significant head injuries which were later deemed to be life-threatening.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A 38-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has since been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and remains in police custody while inquiries continue.
