Additional asymptomatic testing is set to take place in the Uttoxeter this week as residents are being urged to get tested and take extra care following further case rises in the town.

In the last seven days, even more cases have been reported in the Town and Heath wards, with teenagers and young adults being the most affected.

People in Uttoxeter are being asked to do everything they can to keep case rates down and help stop the spread of the virus.

This includes sticking to hands, face, space, and fresh air, getting vaccinated as soon as possible and getting tested regularly.

People without symptoms can get a PCR test at Uttoxeter Racecourse on Thursday and Friday (15,16). The mobile unit will move to JCB World HQ on the Saturday and Sunday (17,18). Testing will be 09:00-16:00 each day.

Dr Richard Harling, Director for Health and Care at Staffordshire County Council said:

“The risk of Covid has not gone away and is spreading rapidly in many areas across the county, including Uttoxeter.

“To prevent cases spiralling further out of control we are urging people who live and work there to do everything they can to help contain the virus.

“This includes booking a PCR test immediately even if you do not display symptoms.”

Councillor Duncan Goodfellow, Leader of East Staffordshire Borough Council said:

“The extra testing resource is in place and I would urge the people of Uttoxeter to utilise this straight away.

“People should also take extra care when mixing with people not in their household and keep following the guidance on social distancing and wearing a face covering.

“Finally, it is important to book your Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible and attend appointments for both doses.”
