Police are appealing for information after a dog was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Tamworth last week.

Officers were called shortly before 3pm on Thursday 12 May to the A5 in Fazeley.

A woman reported her daughter had been walking two pet miniature dachshunds when she crossed the road at the pelican crossing near Two Gates.

It's believed a car drove through a red light and collided with the dogs, killing one of them - four-year-old Sausage (pictured).

Police say the girl was left distressed but unhurt.

Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage of the area at the time of the collision and are urging anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
