Port Vale have sacked Darell Clarke as their manager.

They're six points above the relegation zone with just four games of the season left.

But Vale have only won three of 19 games since the turn of the year.

Andy Crosby will take charge until the end of the season.

Clarke was appointed manager of Port Vale in February 2021, leaving Walsall to take the job, leading them from 18th in League two when he arrived, to promotion glory via the playoffs the following season.

In a statement on the club's website, Director of Football David Flitcroft said;

"We have immense gratitude to Darrell for his role in driving the club away from potential relegation from League Two to winning promotion to League One.

"However, following discussions in recent weeks with Darrell, the backroom staff and senior players, we have decided now is the best time to make a change and give ourselves the best chance of retaining the League One status we have all worked so tirelessly to achieve."
