Car crashes into historic Stoke-on-Trent pub

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the early hours

A historic Stoke-on-Trent building is damaged this morning after a car crashed through the wall and severely damaged it.

Emergency services were called to Shelton New Road in Shelton overnight after receiving reports a car had crashed into what used to be known as Harry Ramjams.

Police remained on the scene throughout the morning and some road closures have been in place to make the area safe.

An investigation into the crash is now underway.

We have arrested a man after a car collided with a derelict pub in Stoke-on-Trent.

Just before 12.30am this morning (Thursday 13 June), we got a call to Shelton New Road following reports of a blue BMW colliding with a derelict pub.

The road was closed and remains closed, with diversions in place through Cemetery Road.

No one was injured and the driver of the car was seen leaving the scene.

A 24-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop after a road accident and being the driver of a vehicle involved in a road accident and failing to report that accident.

He remains in custody for questioning.
