'Nothing more could be done' to save man who died at Hanley canal
He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene yesterday afternoon
A man has died following a 'medical emergency' in one of the biggest parks in Stoke-on-Trent.
Emergency services were called to the Caldon Canal, at Hanley Park yesterday afternoon.
A man was found in a critical condition.
Paramedics performed emergency care on the man but, despite best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "“We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Caldon Canal, Hanley. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended.
"On arrival, we found one patient, a man, in a critical condition. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support on scene, but unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
