Police searching for a missing 77-year-old man from Staffordshire say they have found a body.

Hugh, from Leek, hasn't been seen since Tuesday morning, prompting a large search operation.

Officers had been focussing searches around Rudyard Lake. A body was found yesterday.

In an update today, Staffordshire Police said: "We can sadly confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing 77-year-old Hugh, from Leek.

"A team of specialist search teams and volunteers have been looking for him since he was reported missing on Tuesday (20 August).

"Extensive searches have taken place around Rudyard Lake, where we believed Hugh travelled to on the day he went missing.

"Sadly, a body was discovered in the water today (Thursday 22 August).

"Formal identification will take place in due course, but at this stage, we believe the man to be missing Hugh."

The death isn't being treated as suspicious.
