Body found in South Staffordshire sparks police investigation

An investigation is underway after a body was found in South Staffordshire.

The discovery was made in an area off Bridgnorth Road in Perton, in the early hours of this morning.

Some nearby roads were closed for a time.

It's not clear yet as to how the person died, but police say they're now trying to work out the circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson from Staffordshire Police said: "A body was sadly discovered just after 2.45am this morning (9 August) in an area off Bridgnorth Road in Perton.

"An investigation is underway to understand the circumstances around the death.

"Bridgnorth Road in currently closed in both directions from Tinacre Hill to the junction with Jenny Walkers Lane. A diversion is in place.

"We will provide further updates as soon as we are able to do so.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 42 of 9 August."
