Body found in search for missing man in Chester
The death is not being treated as suspicious
Police searching for a missing man in Chester have sadly found a body.
William Webb was reported missing on Sunday 23 November, having last been seen in the Northgate Street area of Chester at around 4am that morning.
Searches for the 21-year-old had been ongoing since his disappearance, and sadly on Monday 24 November, officers located a body in the Shropshire Union Canal.
Formal identification has not been confirmed, but it is believed to be that of William.
His family have been informed of the development, and they are being supported by specialist officers.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Murray said: “This was a young man who had his entire life ahead of him, and in what will be a difficult time for them, I would like to extend our thoughts to William's family, friends and everyone who knew him.
“Despite this not being the outcome we hoped for, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues from the Constabulary and the Northwest Underwater Search Team for the utmost professionalism they have shown throughout, as well as William's family, friends, and the local community who all helped with the search for William."
