Police searching for a missing 16-year-old boy from Nantwich say they have found a body.

Jonty Evans, who's from Baddington, disappeared on Friday night.

Specialist teams from Cheshire Police spent the weekend carried out searches along the River Weaver, and in a fresh update this morning the force confirmed that a body found nearby is believed to be his.

In a statement, the force said: "At around 5.13pm on Sunday 1 September, police searching the River Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, as part of enquiries into the report of a missing teenager, sadly found a body.

"While formal ID has not yet taken place, it is believed to be that of the 16-year-old boy who has been missing since 30 August from the Nantwich area."

His next of kin have been informed.
