A man has been charged after a fatal collision in North Staffordshire on Christmas Eve.

Mark Plimmer, 27, of Blythe Bridge, appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 26 December charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

It comes following a two-vehicle collision on Uttoxeter Road, Draycott-in-the-Moors, at about 8.45pm on 24 December. It involved a Vauxhall Vectra and a Hyundai.

Staffordshire Police say they went to the scene with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A man in his 60s, from the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

Anyone who saw what happened or those with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time are asked to contact Staffordshire Police.

Plimmer has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 29 January 2024.
