As World Cup fever firmly takes hold of people across Staffordshire and Cheshire, a landlord in Hanley is counting on England continuing their winning form to majorly boost business.
On Monday, England's first game of the World Cup in Qatar ended with a 6 - 2 win to the Three Lions.
The event saw venues across our counties draw in crowds almost at full capacity for the first time in months.
Darren Rogers is the landlord at The Auctioneer in Stoke-on-Trent city centre where around three-hundred people packed out the city centre pub to watch the game.
"The atmosphere has been fantastic." he said.
"We had the Euros obviously during COVID, and to have people standing around the bar again, and chanting and singing and doing what they want to do again is great.
"This is feeling like another thing now where everyone's got the backing of England and want to see them go far, and it's going to be grateful for business.
"In that hour, or an hour and a half of the football we've probably done three times what we do on on Monday. I hope to God that we keep it up because that's what we do best here.
"We've got the three games guaranteed. But fingers crossed, we'll go further and get more games and more games.
England's next game is on Friday 25th November where they take on the USA.
