Police appeal after a 71 year old dies in crash near Sandbach
The crash happened at around 6:15 this morning
A 71 year old man has died in hospital following a crash on the M6
The incident happened between junction 16, and junction 17 just after 6am this morning.
Detectives investigating the fatal collision on the M6 near Sandbach are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said:
At around 6.15am on Friday 23 May, police were called to reports of a collision on the M6 between junction 16 and junction 17, near to Sandbach on the northbound carriageway.
The incident involved a silver Volkswagen Transporter van and another vehicle as yet unknown.
He was taken to hospital where he has sadly since died.
His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by officers.
The other vehicle has left the scene following the collision and officers are working to identify it and its driver.
Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are urging witnesses to come forward."
Sergeant Andrew Dennison, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“If you witnessed the incident and have information which may aid us in locating the driver of the other vehicle, I would urge you to get in touch. If you have any information that may help, or you are the driver of the vehicle, please come forward and help us with our enquiries.”
