Yorkshire Wildlife Park launch new appeal to rescue lions from Ukraine
Cubs Oleg, Rafael & Shanti are currently stranded in a rescue facility in the war torn country
Yorkshire Wildlife Park have launched an appeal to rescue three lion cubs stranded in war torn Ukraine.
Oleg, Raphael and Shanti are currently living in a rescue facility but urgently need new homes.
Oleg was rescued from private owners who fled the Sumy region, which has recently become much more dangerous as a result of Russia's ongoing invation.
According to keepers, he is afraid of humans and longs for a connection with other lions however is currently housed alone due to a lack of space.
Siblings Rafael and Shanti were found in the Kharkiv region abandoned alongside their mother, who'd sadly died.
They are said to be 'inseparable, gentle, and curious around people'.
It's the third rescue attempted by Yorkshire Wildlife Park, near Doncaster, with the first taking place from Romania in 2009.
Four lions were rescued by the attraction from Kyiv last year and are now doing well in Yorkshire.
