Woman in critical condition after collision in Barnsley

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash over the weekend in Barnsley.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Westway at just before 11pm on Saturday night after reports of a collision with a Honda car and a 40-year-old pedestrian.

The driver stopped at the scene to help police with the inquiries.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: "Roads Policing officers have issued an appeal for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision in Barnsley last night (Saturday 15 July).

"At around 10.55pm, emergency services were called to Westway, at the junction with the Alhambra roundabout, following reports of a collision involving a red Honda CR-V and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she remains in a critical condition.

"The driver of the Honda stopped at the scene and is helping officers with their enquiries."

Witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage of the collision, are asked to get in touch with police by calling 101 quoting incident number 1091 of 15 July 2023.
