Woman arrested on suspicion of murder in Sheffield
It's after a man in his 70s died in the Westfield area
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal stabbing in Sheffield.
An investigation is underway after a man believed to be in his 70's was found fatally injured in parkland in Sheffield on Wednesday night.
Emergency services were called near to Shortbrook Close just before 11pm, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers have confirmed this morning that a 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in Police custody at this time.
There will be more Police officers in the area today as they continue their enquiries.
A Police statement said:
"Officers investigating a fatal stabbing in parkland off Shortbrook Close in Westfield yesterday evening (9 August) have made an arrest.
"We were called shortly before 11pm to reports a man, believed to be in his 70s, had been found with suspected stab wounds to his chest.
"The ambulance service also attended and the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by officers.
"A 32-year-old woman has this evening been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing and the local community will continue to see an increased presence in and around the Westfield area.
