A woman has been arrested following a fatal crash in North Derbyshire earlier this week.

Officers were called to the B5023 between Idridgehay and Wirksworth at around 9:45m on Tuesday (November 26).

A Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with a Land Rover.

The Corsa driver, a woman in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She has now been named as 44 year old Tracey Meek.

A man, who was in the Corsa, remains seriously injured in hospital.

The Land Rover driver, a woman in her 40s, remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In a tribute, Tracey's family wrote: "We are absolutely devastated at the news of Tracey’s death. "

“She was a kind, caring and loving person who has been taken from us far too soon and we would respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

Derbyshire Police are urging witnesses or anyone who captured dashcam footage in the area to get in touch.
