Woman dies in prison while awaiting Sheffield murder trial

A woman accused of murdering a pensioner in Sheffield has died in prison while awaiting trial.

Emma Borowy from Bolton was charged with murdering Roger Leadbeater, who was stabbed in the Westfield area of Sheffield in August.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: "Borowy was in remanded in prison, and was awaiting a trial date to be set. We can confirm that she died on Tuesday 12 December.

"Nobody else is being sought in connection with Roger’s death and the investigation has been closed.

"Files for the coroner will be prepared in relation to both deaths."

It's understood Borowy died in a prison in West Yorkshire, where she was being held in custody.
