Sheffield Wednesday release statement after missiles thrown during Steel City Derby
The club says offending fans will face being banned from Hillsborough
Sheffield Wednesday has warned fans involved in disorder during the weekend's Steel City Derby they will face sanctions if and when they are identified.
Objects were thrown from the stands by both home and visiting supporters during Sunday's fixture, which ended 1 - nil to Blades.
In a statement, Wednesday wrote: "The Club has a zero-tolerance approach to crowd incidents, anti-social behaviour and disorder of any nature by supporters at both home and away matches."
"Not only is this behaviour wholly unacceptable, a breach of EFL Ground Regulations and the law, such behaviour posed a serious danger to the players on the pitch, playing staff on the sideline and to fellow supporters.
"A robust investigation is currently underway and the Club is working together with the relevant authorities in order to identify those responsible."
Once identified the club warns offenders will face sanctions, including a stadium ban and potential legal action.
