Warrants executed in Barnsley as day of action returns
Operation Duxford was carried out by South Yorkshire Police in the town yesterday
The number of people in the cells following Operation Duxford action in Barnsley is well into 'double figures' - according to the force.
Teams from across South Yorkshire have supported Barnsley officers executing warrants and arrests simultaneously as Operation Duxford descends on the district.
Within a few hours of officers leaving Churchfield, six warrants were executed at addresses in Cudworth and the town centre in connection to Class A drugs and organised crime.
The warrants, led by community intelligence are part of a district crack down and disruption of organised crime.
Following a warrant at Everlin Street in Cudworth, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply after officers located a large holdall filled with what is believed to be Ketamine.
Also in the property was dried cannabis, believed to be ready for sale.
Other arrests this morning include a 30-year-old man on suspicion of money laundering, a 27-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, a 46-year-old man on suspicion of domestic abuse, a 43-year-old man for failing to appear and a 12-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery.
These arrests are all part of our efforts to disrupt organised crime and anti-social behaviour across the boroughs.
Chief Inspector John Mallows from South Yorkshire Police has been telling us the purpose behind it:
"Disruption to organised crime groups and recovering large quantities of drugs from addresses where we've done specific warrants.
"We're doing this because our communities are highlighting these issues to us, so please keep making contact with us and report incidents if possible.
"We also want to stop people using vehicles in an anti-social manner - that might include off-road bikes."
