South Yorkshire Police have arrested two men for outraging public decency, by allegedly mocking a six year old Sunderland fan who died of cancer.

A pair were pictured at yesterday's Sheffield Wednesday's match at Hillsborough, holding up a phone showing Bradley Lowery.

The six-year-old was often seen at Sunderland fixtures until his death in 2017.

Police have arrested two me, aged 31 and 27 who remain in police custody.

Both clubs were quick to condemn the act with Sheffield Wednesday stating they are working with the Police.

In a statement, the club described the images as "outrageous and utterly deplorable".

And a fresh fundraiser for Bradley's foundation, set up by Wednesday fans, surpassed its 5 thousand target within 12 hours of its launch.

The Bradley Lowery Foundation said: "Bradley’s family are aware of the image circulating around social media, and are understandably very upset.

"At the age of just 6 years old, Bradley brought the football community together, with his infectious smile and personality, so to see the image of him being portrayed in this light is extremely upsetting for everyone who knew and loved him.

"We are grateful to Sheffield Wednesday in their quick condemnation of the actions of the people involved.

"We continue to have a good relationship with the football club, and understand this is an isolated incident and we thank the wider football community for their continued support of the Bradley Lowery Foundation."
