Two more men arrested after gun fired in Rotherham
Police are continuing their investigation into shots fired on Goldsmith Drive
Two men have been arrested as police continue their investigation into a gun being fired in Rotherham last month.
Officers were called to Goldsmith Drive in Herringthorpe at 8.56pm December 19, following reports of gunfire.
Two days after the incident, a man presented himself to hospital with injuries consistent with being shot.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of firearm and drug offences and was later discharged from hospital and bailed pending further enquiries.
Since then, detectives from South Yorkshire Police's Armed Crime Team have made two further arrests.
On Sunday (January 4) an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of firearm offences. He has been bailed pending further enquiries and remanded on conditional bail in connection with other alleged offences.
On Tuesday (January 6) a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent to endanger life. He has also been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Claire Moss of South Yorkshire Police said:
"While these arrests are a significant update in our investigation into this firearms discharge, we are still appealing for any information from you - our local communities.
"Gun crime is not tolerated anywhere in South Yorkshire and we're doing everything we can to bring a stop to it, but we need your help.
"The intelligence you provide is vital in helping us bring those involved in gun crime to justice. It could seem like a minor detail or something suspicious you've spotted in the Goldsmith Drive area - whatever it is, please tell us. You will never be wasting our time."
