Two pensioners have died following a farmhouse fire in Sheffield overnight.

Firefighters were called to Spout Lane in the Stannington area at around ten past three this morning - a joint investigation is underway into the cause.

South Yorkshire police have released the following statement.....

Emergency services have this afternoon (Monday 7 November), recovered a second body following a house fire in Sheffield.

The body of a man, believed to be in his 90s, has been recovered.

Emergency services were called to a farmhouse in Spout Lane, Stannington at about 3.10am this morning to reports that the house was alight.

The fire is now out and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews are damping down at the scene.

The body of a woman, also believed to be in her 90s, was recovered earlier this morning.

A joint fire and police investigation is now underway to establish the exact cause of the fire.

Acorn Way and Acorn Drive, which were closed earlier this morning, have since been reopened.
