It's transfer deadline day - with teams across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire expected to make crucial mid term signings ahead of the closure of the January window at 7pm tonight.

Below are the latest moves for local Championship, League One and League Two teams:

Sheffield United

Sheffield United have welcomed defender Leo Hjelde joining on loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.

The 22 year old is the son of former Nottingham Forest defender Jon Olav. He started his senior career at Celtic, before a move to Leeds which saw him play on loan to Rotherham.

He's expected to cover for Sam McCallum who was injured during the weekend's trip to Millwall.

The marquee signing of the window for United is Manchester City defender Kalvin Phillips, who joins until the end of the season.

The Yorkshire Pirlo has enjoyed loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich Town since departing Leeds for City in 2022.

Meanwhile Joe Rothwell, also formerly of Leeds, has agreed an 18 month deal to join Blades from Rangers.

Outgoing is 21 year old winger Ehije Ukaki, who heads to Greek Super League side Atromitos on loan.

Sheffield Wednesday

Owls welcome defender Tayo Adaramola from Premier League Crystal Palace.

The 22 year old, who primarily plays on the left side, will remain with Wednesday for the rest of the season.

He went pro with Crystal Palace in 2020 and has largely played with the U21 and U18s teams.

Tayo has also enjoyed loan spells with Bradford City and Leyton Orient.

Also through the door at Hillsborough is Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba - who joins on on a free transfer.

The 32 year old made his name in the UK at Premier League Aston Villa, where he made 58 appearances across four seasons.

Joel Ndala makes the move over from Manchester City until the end of the season, off the back of a loan to Hull City.

Departing is striker Bailey Cadamarteri, who is off to Wrexham for an undisclosed dee.

The 20 year old rose through the academy ranks at Hillsborough, having first joined the club at the age of nine.

Barnsley FC

Striker Tom Bradshaw is set to return to Barnsley FC - on loan from Oxford United.

The 33 year old played for Reds between 2016 and 2019, scoring 19 goals across 93 appearances during his time at Oakwell.

He's reuniting with head coach Conor Hourihane, who played alongside Bradshaw.

Heading out is forward Davis Keillor Dunn, who has signed for Wrexham on a permanent deal.

Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster Rovers have signed forward Elliot Lee on loan from Championship side Wrexham.

The 31 year old heads to South Yorkshire have played a big role in the Welsh side's rise from the depths of the National League to the second tier of English football.

He has scored 40 goals in 150 appearances.

Rotherham United

The Millers have managed to secure the services of former Millwall forward Duncan Watmore until the end of the season.

The 31 year old's deal at The Den expired last summer, with the former Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Altrincham man on the lookout for a new team since.

Elsewhere Millers have signed Aston Villa left back Lino Souza until the end of the season.

The 21 year old, born in Lisbon, started his career in England at West Brom.

Jamaica international Brandon Cover adds to Rotherham's options in midfield and defence, with the 22 year old signing from Leicester City.

Manchester United forward Gabriele Biancheri joins the club in a temporary deal until the end of the season.
