New leader of Sheffield City Council keen to 'restore public trust'
Councillor Tom Hunt was elected as Terry Fox's replacement last week
The new leader of Sheffield City Council tells us he wants to make sure that they work in a more 'transparent manner' moving forwards.
Councillor Tom Hunt - from Sheffield Labour - was elected as Terry Fox's replacement last week.
There's a couple of things at the top of his to-do list:
"We'll be working collaboratively to make sure that this council is 100% focussed on delivering people's priorities; helping with the cost of living crisis and fixing our buses so that it's easier to get around this city.
"A lot of people right now are facing a difficult time as bills rise and wages fall.
"I know people want help from the council to get them through this difficult time, and that is my top priority as the new council leader.
"I want to make sure every pound of public money is spent wisely too.
"We're going to be working with the other parties to make sure that this council - under my leadership - is 100% focussed on delivering for the people in the city."
Following the recent local elections earlier the month - Sheffield City Council is still a power share between Labour & the Lib Dems.
