British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to.

The victim was waiting on a platform at Rotherham Central station at around 11.20pm on 4 February when a man on the opposite platform climbed onto the tracks and crossed over.

He snatched the woman’s bag and fled back across the tracks and out of the station, taking money then dropping the bag as he ran.

“Not only was this a frightening experience for the victim, but the man endangered his life trespassing on the railway,” said PC Roy Percival.

“The man in the image we are issuing today is someone who I think will have information about this theft. Please tell us who he is.”
