Teenage girl praised for bravery as her abuser's jailed
A Sheffield man has been jailed after admitting a string of child sex offences against a teenage girl.
A 40-year-old man from Sheffield's been jailed for 12 years after admitting abusing a teenage girl.
Simon Stokes, of Church Lane, Woodhouse pleaded guilty to multiple child sexual offences.
He was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.
Stokes abused his victim, a teenage girl, over a two-year period in Sheffield.
In September 2015, the girl’s father called police and an investigation began.
Stokes’ phone was seized and examined, which was found to contain a number of indecent images of the victim.
Detective Constable Ashlea Taylor-Jones, investigating officer, said:
“This inquiry uncovered years of abuse against a vulnerable girl, who was groomed by Stokes for his own sexual gratification.
“His criminality is inexcusable and I am pleased he pleaded guilty, sparing his young victim the distress of going to court for a trial. She has been remarkably brave throughout the investigation and I commend her for the courage she has shown.
“She is now receiving support from our partner agencies.
“I hope today’s result sends a further message that South Yorkshire Police does not tolerate child sexual exploitation and we will do whatever we can to bring offenders of this vile crime before the courts.”
