A teenager is in a serious condition following a fail to stop road traffic collision in Sheffield last night (Thursday 29 September 2022).

Just before midnight, officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision on Chaucer Road involving a car and a taxi.

The taxi, a blue Volkswagen Passat, collided with a black Mercedes C220 AMG. The driver of the Mercedes made off from the scene.

Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information, or anyone who may have dashcam or may have seen the collision, is asked to get in touch.

The road was closed whilst a thorough investigation was carried out but has since been reopened.

Sergeant Matthew Duffy, overseeing the investigation, said: “This was a serious collision that has left a 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the taxi, in hospital in a serious condition.

“We attended the scene and immediately followed up a number of lines of enquiry but we’re now appealing for anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch."
