SY Headteachers: Support will be in place for 'stressed' students during exam season
Most Year 11 pupils across the country are set begin their GCSE exams from today
Headteachers across South Yorkshire tell us 'support will be available' for students who're feeling stressed out from any academic pressures.
It's as most Year 11 secondary school pupils in the country begin their GCSE exams this week.
Pepe Di'iasio is the Headteacher of Wales High School in Rotherham:
"Headteachers & schools across the region will be fully aware of these stresses and strains.
"Staff will be doing everything they can to reassure students and to help them get the confidence to go forward into this exam season knowing that they aren't alone.
"In many ways, this is a case of us all being in it together.
"We've got an incredibly committed pastoral team here - as well as the specialist staff we've employed to support with issues around mental health - which come to the fore at this time of year."
We also asked Pepe what advice he has for pupils who're going to be sitting their exams this summer:
"Make sure to get a good night's sleep before an exam if possible, and also it's worth getting the right fuel inside you so that you're able to perform on the day.
"It's never too late to make a difference either, so make good use of the time between your exams and plan how to get the best out of this period."
