Staff at Cheswold Park secure mental hospital in Doncaster have put strike action on hold, after receiving a new offer to settle a depute over unpaid backdated wages.

The hospital’s 120 workers were originally employed by private health provider Riverside, but they transferred to NHS employment under South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in October 2024.

According to Unite the trust delayed providing NHS contracts for over a year and is now refusing to backdate pay and terms to the original transfer date.

Workers had planned to take strike action on 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th, and 31st December 2025, along with 1st January 2026.

Unite regional officer Chris Rawlinson said: “Unite has suspended strike action at Cheswold Park hospital to allow our members to vote on the new offer.”
