Four people have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 'disturbance' over the weekend in the Stocksbridge area of Sheffield.

Police were called at 8:36pm on Saturday (April 12) to Knoll Close, after reports of a large group of people fighting on the street.

Armed officers arrived and arrested a 34 year old man, who was later taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 35-year-old woman and a 37-year-old remain were detained on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday.

Now - two 30 year old men have also been arrested on the same charge, with one also being questioned on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Senior Investigation Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"Our investigation is continuing at pace as we try to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident.

"We know members of the public were in the area at the time and will be key witnesses in our investigation. If that was you, we are urging you to please come forward. Any information, no matter how small, could help and be the missing piece to this puzzle."
