There was a win for Wednesday in the Boxing Day fixtures. The Owls beating bottom-of-the-Championship Blackpool 1-nil at Hillsborough - Chris Maguire scoring a penalty for the home side. It was honours even in the Yorkshire derby at the New York Stadium, Rotherham United coming from two goals down to draw 2-all with Huddersfield Town.
Johnson Clarke-Harris and Lee Frecklington earning a point for the Millers. In League One Doncaster Rovers got only their second home win of the season against a Coventry side who had TWO men sent off. Andy Butler and Harry Forrester scoring for the home side in the 2-nil victory at the Keepmoat. Defeats though for both Sheffield United and Barnsley.
They Blades cut down 2-1 at Port Vale and the Tykes 1-nil losers at Preston.
