Labour MP for Penistone & Stocksbridge confirms there is 'interest' in Speciality Steel sites
The company was placed into 'compulsory liquidation' earlier this week following a High Court ruling
We're told there are buyers 'interested' in taking over Speciality Steel sites in Sheffield & Rotherham.
The UK's third largest steelworks were given a lifeline on Thursday when the government took control after it was forced into compulsory liquidation.
Marie Tidball is the Labour MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge:
"There are third party buyers potentially lined up to invest in the site, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how the government works with the official receiver to bring that forward.
"This site used to produce 15% of global speciality steel for aerospace and defence.
"I'm really proud of that, and I want the amazingly skilled steelworkers to be able to get back to that point again."
Bosses at the UK's third biggest steelworks in South Yorkshire argue the move to wind up the business is "irrational".
