South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue investigators are looking into what's caused two significant fires.

Four flats had to be evacuated in Barnsley's Heelis Street earlier today after a fire started in a building.

At the same time crews were also separately dealing with flames and smoke coming from a scrap metal site at an industrial park in Kilnhurst.

People nearby to the scene have been urged to keep windows and doors closed.

There are no reports of injuries.
