People living in South Yorkshire with family members in Ukraine admit they're 'extremely worried' about the ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe.

It's as the number of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border keeps growing by the day-with fears Moscow could invade the former Soviet Republic.

Paul Iwanyckyj chairs the Doncaster branch of the association of Ukrainians.

He says it's a scary time:

"“We’re seeing the diplomatic intervention is because neither government wants to have a repeat of the Russian evacuation from Kabul – but I’m not reading any more into it than that.”

Russia continues to deny any plan on invading their European neighbour.

Mr Iwanyckyj added: “As chairman of the Doncaster branch, I was born in England – and it’s not easy to feel like you’re making a difference with such a complex and distant problem.

“As simple as it seems, following and sharing any supportive campaigns on social media is a key one – they’re certainly gratefully heartened when they see they’re not forgotten.”

Russian leaders have been urged to return to talks in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
