Tonight's Championship game (April 9th) against Norwich marks what Sheffield Wednesday have called a 'momentous occasion' in their 'long and illustrious history' - as it's their 5,000th league fixture.

The Owls formed all the way back in 1867 - but it wasn't until May 13th 1892 when the Wednesday Football Club were put into the First Division of the Football League - when a meeting of league bosses was held.

And, as they say - 'the rest is history'.

Wednesday join a very special group of clubs, being only the 10th EFL side to reach this milestone.

At tonight's game, EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch will be in attendance to award the club a presentation plaque, alongside Owls icons from bygone years.

Even down to their programme - they've designed a montage of legendary figures of Owls history for their front cover.

Inside the programme, club historians Peter Law and Jason Dickinson delve deep into the passage of time, travelling down memory lane to arrive at the present day.
