Sheffield Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal has been rewarded with a contract extension for guiding the club into play-off contention.

The Portuguese moved to Hillsborough last summer and has guided them into the top six of the Sky Bet Championship with four matches to go.

He has also got the Owls playing the sort of football which has impressed his chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

"I am delighted that Carlos will be staying with Sheffield Wednesday,'' Chansiri told the club's official website, swfc.co.uk.

"I am sure our supporters will also welcome this news as Carlos has led a complete overhaul of the style football we play, particularly at Hillsborough.

"The brief was for the team to play exciting, aggressive and entertaining football, which has been delivered.

"I look forward to working with Carlos both now and in the future.''

Carvalhal's backroom staff have also extended their current contracts at the club.
