Bizzy Bee's nursery in Beighton, is bouncing back after an arson attack on Sunday night which saw substantial damage to the property.
Staff at the nursery have been overwhelmed by support from local parents and businesses.
They have received over £1,000 donated via their just giving page to help repairs and buy equipment for the charity. They have also had locals offer to donate old toys, books and equipment to help them get back up and running.
Manager Lisa Burgin, told Hallam that they are already looking to the future, and won’t let this beat them:
‘I can only think positive, I can’t think negative at all, it’s not in my nature. I am responsible for 28 other women here, all relying on their jobs. I’ve told them; their jobs will be safe. We need to get up and running as soon as we possibly can which we intend to do.’
Alex Coopland, whose daughter attends the nursery explains that everyone has found it hard to take the news, and what her initial response was to the news:
‘very shocked and upset. Upset for all the girls that put all the hard work in. And also for my little girl who has really come on leaps and bounds here’
Hallam spoke to some of the staff at the nursery who explained how difficult it was that their place of work had been destroyed, although they could not do anything to help they still arrived at the centre to offer support and signpost anyone with donations to a local church which is storing them for the moment.
